Inhabited since prehistoric times, Asolo became an important Roman municipality, and later a dominion of the Venetian Republic. Symbols of Asolo are the medieval buildings, Venetian architecture, porticoes, pretty windows, the Rocca and the Castle, all cheek by jowl in a small, quiet village setting.
